आयुधानामहं वज्रं धेनूनामस्मि कामधुक्। प्रजनश्चास्मि कन्दर्पः सर्पाणामस्मि वासुकिः।।10.28।।

Transliteration

āyudhānām ahaṁ vajraṁ dhenūnām asmi kāmadhuk prajanaśh chāsmi kandarpaḥ sarpāṇām asmi vāsukiḥ

Vajram the thunderbolt weapon made of the bones of Dadhichi an implement of warfare which can only be handled by Indra who has fininshed a hundred sacrifices.Kamadhuk The cow Kamadhenu of the great sage Vasishtha which yielded all the desired objects, also born of the ocean of milk.Kandarpa Cupid.Vasuki The Lord of hoodless or ordinary serpents.Sarpa (serpent) has only one head. Vasuki is yellowcoloured. Nagas have many heads. Ananta is firecoloured.Sridhara says that the Sarpa is poisonous and the Naga is nonpoisonous. Sri Ramanuja says that Sarpa has only one head and Naga has many heads.

।।10.28।। मैं शस्त्रों में वज्र हूँ दिव्यास्त्रों में प्रमुख वज्रास्त्र अमोघ है। वृत्रासुर प्राय स्वर्ग पर आक्रमण करके वहाँ की शान्ति भंग करता था। अपनी प्रचण्ड शक्ति के कारण वह अवध्य बन गया था। उस समय दधीचि नामक एक महान् तपस्वी ऋषि ने उसके नाश हेतु एक दिव्य शस्त्र बनाने के लिए अपनी अस्थियों का दान किया था? जिससे इस अस्त्र का निर्माण करके वृत्रासुर की बध किया गया।मैं धेनुओं में कामधेनु हूँ कामधेनु की प्राप्ति भी अमृतमन्थन से हुई थी। ऐसा विश्वास किया जाता है कि यह एक ऐसी अनूठी गाय है? जिसके द्वारा हम अपनी समस्त इच्छाओं की पूर्ति कर सकते हैं।प्रजोत्पत्ति के कारणों में मैं कामदेव हूँ भारतीय धारणा के अनुसार काम का देवता कन्दर्प (कामदेव? मदन) है? जो एक कुटिल हृष्टपुष्ट युवक के रूप में चित्रित किया गया है। यह कामदेव अपनी मन्दस्मिति के धनुष के द्वारा पाँच सुपुष्पित बाणों से मनुष्य की एकएक इन्द्रिय को आहत करता है यह जीव विज्ञान से सम्बन्धित एक सत्य है। प्रजोत्पत्ति माने केवल गर्भाधान की क्रिया या वनस्पति जगत् में होने वाली सेचन क्रिया ही नहीं समझी जानी चाहिए। भारतीय कामशास्त्र के अनुसार इसका अर्थ उन समस्त कामुक प्रवृत्तियों की शान्ति से है? जो सभी इन्द्रियों के माध्यम से व्यक्त होती हैं। एक दार्शनिक सच्चा वैज्ञानिक होता है और इस कारण उसमें वह मिथ्या लज्जा या संकोच नहीं होता? जो प्राय स्वभाव से अनैतिक किन्तु दिखावे के लिए कट्टर नैतिकतावादी व तिलकधारी पाखण्डी लोगों का होता है। वेदान्त के आचार्य कामवासना के संबंध में विश्लेषण करते समय इस प्रकार निर्मम होते हैं? जैसे चिकित्साशास्त्र के महाविद्यालय में कोई प्राध्यापक।भगवान् घोषणा करते हैं कि प्रजोत्पत्ति के सब कारणों में कन्दर्प मैं हूँ। वैषयिक भोग के क्षेत्र में कामदेव मनुष्य के शारीरिक? मानसिक और बौद्धिक व्यक्तित्व के पूर्ण सन्तोष का प्रतीक है।मैं सर्पों में वासुकि हूँ पुराणों में किये गये वर्णन के अनुसार वासुकि भगवान् शिव की अंगुली पर लिपटा रहता है। यद्यपि यह सर्प शिवजी की अंगूठी का आकार लेने योग्य छोटा है? परन्तु क्षीरसागर के मन्थन के लिए वह रज्जु (रस्सी) का कार्य करने को प्रयुक्त होता है। स्वाभाविक ही? वासुकि शब्द से उपनिषद् के उस कथन का स्मरण हो आता है जिसमें कहा गया है कि आत्मतत्त्व अणु से भी सूक्ष्म है और बृहत्तम वस्तु से भी अधिक बृहत् है। अत सर्पों में वासुकि को भगवान् की विभूति बताना उपयुक्त ही है। सर्प और नाग में भेद है। सर्प एक फण वाला होता है? जबकि नाग के अनेक फण होते हैं।गीता के दिव्य गायक अपने सुन्दर राग में अपनी गानपूर्ण विभूतियों को और भी बताते हैं

।।10.28।। व्याख्या--'आयुधानामहं वज्रम्'--जिनसे युद्ध किया जाता है, उनको आयुध (अस्त्र-शस्त्र) कहते हैं। उन आयुधोंमें इन्द्रका वज्र मुख्य है। यह दधीचि ऋषिकी हड्डियोंसे बना हुआ है और इसमें दधीचि ऋषिकी तपस्याका तेज है। इसलिये भगवान्ने वज्रको अपनी विभूति कहा है।
